Everyone in the #bookcommunity seems to adore Inspector #Gamache and Louise Penny so when a book club was formed (#PennyPushers), I thought it was a good time to see what the hype is all about.
Still Life is the first book in the series and while I enjoyed the mystery, the characters, and the charm of Three Pines, I’m not obsessed (which is good news – the last thing I need is to add 13 books to my #tbrpile! 😉). I may return to the books every now and then, but I wasn’t so invested that I feel the need to faithfully continue.
I can totally understand why people love the series – the characters really were charming and the story was engaging. If I had read them as they came out, I’d definitely stick with it. But there just wasn’t enough there to motivate me to make it a goal to read them all.
I know I’m rambling and I hope I’m making sense…bottom line: it was good, but not so great I feel the need to keep up on the series.
