I’m still participating in the Unread Shelf Challenge hosted by Whitney at The Unread Shelf, and this month’s Unread Shelf Challenge is to read a backlist title (anything published before 2020) by an author with a newer book out, so I’m building my May TBR with this thought in mind.
To help me whiddle down my books, I have a few categories I’d like to try to hit each month:
- A Backlist Title: Silver Sparrow by: Tayari Jones
- A BOTM Title: The Remains of the Day by: Kazuo Ishiguro
- A Nonfiction Title: The Tattooist of Auschwitz by: Heather Morris
- A NetGalley/Edelweiss Title – (this doesn’t really fit the category this month, so I’m just going to read one of the books I have from NetGalley/Edelweiss): Good Morning, Destroyer of Men’s Souls: A Memoir of Women, Addiction, and Love by: Nina Renata Aron
- A Memoir: This Is the Story of a Happy Marriage by: Ann Patchett
- At least 2 physical ARCs:
Other books up for consideration:
- Love and Ruin by: Paula McLain
- Lily and the Octopus by: Steven Rowley
- Everything I Never Told You by: Celeste Ng
- Age of Miracles by: Karen Thompson Walker
- Last Will by: Bryn Greenwood
There you have it! What’s on your list of hopefuls for the month of May?
I just finished This is the Story of a Happy Marriage. I loved it! So much so that I ordered a signed copy for my shelves.

The Tatooist of Auschwitz is fiction, not non fiction

I’ve really been working to read off of my shelves as well. It certainly helps that the library and bookstores are closed!
