This week’s topic: Top 5 characters I would dress up as!
It’s book week in Australia this week! Which means that all the kids in primary (elementary?) school get dressed up as their favourite book characters and promote reading in schools.
This was a hard topic for me. When I think about dressing up as a character, I automatically think of characters from books I read when I was much younger. I suppose I could have gone along that line of thinking, but instead I tried to think of characters from books that are a little more recent in my reading.
Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games
One word regarding Katniss’ style: BADASS!
Any of the women from The Great Gatsby
The headpieces, flapper girl dresses, and blinged out jewelry? Yes, please!
Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter Series
(C’mon, who doesn’t want to fly on a broom at least once?! And besides, as the years went on, Hermione’s style became very casual…a look I can really relate to!)
Evelyn Hugo from The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
When I read this book, Marilyn Monroe and Jackio O always seemed to be in my mind. I imagined Evelyn’s style to be that iconic 1960s/1970s glamour Hollywood style.
And for lack of imagination,
Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz
I mean, those glittery red shoes would have made my child heart so happy!
